Open Mic UK

Local talent shines on the Mic.

Autumn from Peckham has been given the big thumbs up by judges at the Open Mic UK auditions. Along with other impressive acts, Autumn has made it through to the Regional Finals and will now be performing at the live stages of Open Mic UK 2012.  Open Mic UK 2012 is the exciting national talent competition which searches for the UK’s best singers, singer/songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres who perform either covers or original material. One contestant who has evidently caught the judge’s eye is local talent Autumn, now in the running to compete for a place in the National Final within The O2 in London. Thousands of hopefuls entered nationwide and hundreds of auditionees queued patiently on the day for their turn to impress the judges. Those who made it through the audition stage will now take part in a live Regional head to head battle alongside the best talent in their area. They’ll be performing in front of hundreds of audience members and a professional judging panel to win a place at the National Grand Final. Chris Grayston, Events Coordinator for Open Mic UK comments “We are looking to find an act that has something unique to offer, another Birdy that can go all the way, with both the ability to deliver a strong live performance but also potential to become a professional recording artist. There is so much talent out there I’m sure we can find that star again!  The competition is divided into age categories; 16 and under, 17-22 and 23 and over; all types of singers, vocal performers, groups and acoustic singer/songwriters are invited to enter Open Mic UK. The acts are all aiming to make it to that prestigious Final at The O2 where the spotlight will be on all the acts with a chance to be signed.  The latter stages of the competition will also provide acts with the opportunity to impress many guests from record labels, agencies and the entertainment industry as well as judges from BBC Introducing, national radio and regional press with judges being more prestigious in the later rounds. Past judges include Radio 1 DJs Ras Kwame and Annie Nightingale MBE with Ivor Novello award winner Mark Hill and KISS FM’s Charlie Hedges already confirmed to join this year’s Grand Final panel for 2012. Former winner Hatty Keane has been signed to BGM Music. Hatty has been featured in a variety of local, regional and national press, performed live sets alongside Ed Sheeran, Tinchy Stryder and Roll Deep and is currently working on new material. Previous winners also include Birdy who is signed to Warner has in the last 12 months has hits all over Europe and is set to conquer the US with a collaboration with Mumford & sons.  For more information go to the website www.openmicuk.co.uk or better still come down and support your local talent performing! Open mic UK...

Open Mic UK. I'm not sure how many people have actually heard of this competition, its slightly similar to X-factor its less publicized but it is a big competition that many people entering its people of all genre's, styles and ages. there are three categories for this competition; 16 and Under, 17-22 and Over 23's. Each round has a group of judges and they change with each round. Its a pretty tough competition there are so many people with amazing talent, the judges must have a hard time only picking out a certain few. in the audition you can only perform a piece of two minutes and due to the large number of contesters you may not be able to perform the whole so you would have to pick the perfect songs that could wow someone in less than minute. BBC1 Hackney Weekend

SO guess what I did this weekend? I went to BBC1 hackney festival with my mum and sister. I went on the Sunday and it was amazing. There were so many people performing all great artists, there were multiple stages and sometimes two people or more of the people I wanted to see were performing at the same time so I'd have to pick one the people i managed to see are: Labrinth, Mindless Behaviour,Jessie J, Tinie Tempah and last but in no way least Rihanna.
Labrinth at Radio 1's Hackney Weekend 2012
Labrinth was amazing he has an absolutely amazing voice and he's an amazing performer Labrinth came on stage with union jack wellie boots in my opinion he looked amazingly swag and his swagness went on overload when he began to sing.
Mindless Behavior at Radio 1's Hackney Weekend
Mindless behaviour were also amazing only Princeton, Prodigy and Roc royal performed as Ray Ray was ill :( but the boys were still amazing being the dancers they are they're dancing was brilliant as i happen to love MB I will also add that they looked hot they can sing, dance and they're attractive, triple threat right there! ;) moving on. after this performance we wondered around in search of food there were many stools and my favourite was The old fashion sweet shop which had amazing bon bons in lots of flavours. after this we headed over to the main stage to see Jessie J.
Jessie J at Radio 1's Hackney Weekend 2012

Jessie J was amazing she was funny and her voice is absolutely amazing live no doubt to her fame as her voice is beautiful, her whole performance was amazing she was dancing and talking to everyone she was funny and just a joy to watch perform and she also had on the most amazing pair of shoes they probably cost a lot but they were gorgeous and I desperately want them.
Tinie Tempah at Hackney Weekend 2012
Tinie Tempah performed after Jessie j and he was also amazing all of his songs were brilliant and he did a couple ones from his soon coming album, throughout his performance Tinie was obviously enjoying himself and it just made it that much better to watch cause the audience was having a good time and so was he clearly and it was all around brilliant.
Rihanna at Hackney Weekend 2012 And the last performance of the night was the talented and most definitely beautiful Rihanna and her performance in one word epic. she had her dancers and did some of her most amazing songs. she was amazing with the audience interacted with them she'd come off stage and be with her fans and during the performance her mic pack slipped off her bra and she came down into the audience and let one of her fans clip it back on. Her whole set was amazing and she performed everything perfectly and she was sexy with her performance and to top it off she had a surprise guest, Jay z, and he was also amazing they performed 'Run This Town' 'Umbrella' and for the first time ever 'Talk That Talk' it was absolutely mind blowing. i will never forget it.

Hackney weekend was overall a completely epically brilliant day not even the hot and cold weather effected its epic amazingness of Hackney weekend everything was perfect.

So there is my review of hackney weekend.

Peace! xo

Justin Bieber - Boyfriend

As you may know Justin Bieber's first single off of his new album has just hit Itunes it's called 'Boyfriend' and is a very good song in my opinion. It's well written and the music is amazing, its one of the songs you'll find yourself tapping your foot or nodding your head to even if you don't like the artist, you might find yourself attempting to sing along even if you don't know the words. It's very different from his old music and although it can be hard to change your style of music he did and it works for him perfectly and boyfriend is an amazing example of that. This song is a lot more mature then his old music but doesn't make it seem as though he's in a rush to grow up and many people thought that his music would die down as his voice grew deeper, as when he started his career he was very young and his voice had not yet broken all the bad thoughts were washed away with this new song. This song managed to make it to #7 on Itunes top ten with in an hour of it coming and it is now #1 in several countries. Justin has grown and so has music, This song is smooth and sweet and is definitely something even a non-fan will enjoy. I fell in love with the song when I listened to it and that is not just coming from a fans point of view, that is coming from and aspiring artist/journalistic point of view and hope that's the impression you got from this blog post.

Here's the song in case you haven't heard it yet and are eager to listen to it for yourself :)

Justin is a big inspiration of mine and his music is absolutely astounding in my opinion and he is good role model and he's rather gorgeous ;)
Hope you liked this post :) feel free to tell me what you think. Peace. Love xox

Sing To Me

I wanted to use this post to talk about something I'm passionate about, Singing. As I said in my previous I grew up around music and it's a big part of my life something that came with that was singing, I love to sing and have been doing it since I was two I've never had a lesson so I'm not exactly a professional  but I'm pretty good. Ever since I was two all I remember is wanting to become a famous singer and perform on stage and that's all I've ever wanted I did want to be an actor at some points as I enjoy acting but singing is something I focus on. My mum told me that when I was two I would walk around singing 'Destiny's Child - No, No, No' and ever since then I don't think I've gone a day without singing, I find that singing helps me to concentrate so while writing this I'm singing. Singing also puts me in a better mood, I'll be angry, sad, bored, or crying my eyes out and then I'll quietly sing a song to myself and forget how I felt moments before. Singing is an amazing way of letting out emotions and it helps if you can write songs which I will admit I find it hard to do as I've always had trouble putting my emotions into words, In school I always hate when it comes to poetry cause I can never think of the right words but one of my goals is to be able to write a song even if it's only okay I just want to know I can do it. I sometimes get insecure with my singing and think about it too much to a point where I think I sound like a dying elephant but I'm pretty sure I don't actually it's just me over thinking things. I'm a very shy person at times so I find it hard to sing in front of people at first but when I start I can't stop, last year I did Something I never thought I'd have the guts to do, I started uploading my videos on youtube and that was a big step for me cause of how shy and insecure I get and the fact that that over think things doesn't help cause I begin to worry that I suck cause I don't have as many views as some people but does what people think matter? well yeah it does especially seen as I want to become a famous singer and if people don't like me that ain't gonna happen is it but even though I don't have millions of fews and comments and likes doesn't mean i'ma give up. You don't know what will happen in the future so I keep going till I get what want and don't take no for an answer. I'll Give you a piece of advice NEVER SAY NEVER it's a good motto to live by.

Sorry if some of that seemed like a ramble of nonsense I'm a bit of rambler at times :)
if you wanna have a look at my youtube channel it'd be much appreciated (http://www.youtube.com/user/GawjusAutii/videos) and if your reading this and your an aspiring singer or make music etc feel free to ask me to listen to you and I'll tell you what I think :) Love. Love. Love
